South African media platform Twyg has opened nominations for the eighth edition of its Sustainable Fashion Awards. Nominations close on 14 October 2026; winners will be announced on 19 November at a celebration in Cape Town.
There are nine categories: Accessory, Artisanal Fashion, Emerging Designer, Fashion Innovation, Pan-African, Retail, Student, Tastemaker and Trans-seasonal Design. A Changemaker Award, selected from eligible entrants, carries a R100,000 cash prize.
Judging looks at labour practices, material sourcing, environmental impact and circularity. For director Jackie May, the goal is to identify people and organisations building a textile industry that is fair, inclusive, nature-friendly and circular.
The Pan-African category is a reminder that sustainable fashion on the continent often rests on long-standing skills: repair, craft and local production.
