The sixth edition of the Abidjan Art Fair — the international contemporary art fair of Abidjan — took place on 14 and 15 August 2026 at Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire.
Its opening theme, “L’Art au cœur de la cité : Héritage, création et espace public”, set a clear goal: make contemporary art accessible to a broad public rather than to a small circle of collectors. Conversations addressed the dialogue between heritage and modernity, urban trees as public artworks, and the financing and marketing of art.
Artist and writer Werewere Liking and consultant Adams Timité took part in sessions on legal protection, structuring cultural enterprises and funding. The questions were practical — who pays, who owns, who gets access — which is exactly what a growing art city needs to ask.
