The 16th Dak'Art, the Biennale of Contemporary African Art, now has its line-up. The selection was presented on 24 September at the Musée des Civilisations Noires in Dakar, ahead of an edition that runs from 19 November to 19 December 2026.

The artistic director is Morad Montazami, appointed in April. His theme, (Anti)fragilité: arts de la réparation et stratégies du contrecoup, looks at how fragility, repair and resilience can become creative strengths.

The official selection brings together 54 visual artists for the international exhibition and 21 designers for the design section, curated by Youssouf Fofana: 75 creators in all, chosen from nearly 900 applications. Around twenty countries are represented, with Georges Adéagbo, Ernest Breleur and El Hadji Sy among the names.

The Democratic Republic of the Congo is the guest-of-honour country, and Moroccan artist Faouzi Laatiris is the edition's grand témoin. The former Palais de Justice in Dakar will be the main venue for the international exhibition and the design section.

Beyond the official programme, more than 400 Off events are expected across Senegal and in the diaspora. The biennale follows the Youth Olympic Games, which Dakar hosts from 31 October to 13 November.
