Generations of readers in Côte d'Ivoire know the story of Ébinto. Now Amadou Koné's novel 'Les Frasques d'Ébinto' has become a feature film, directed by Luc Gnepa and simply titled 'Ébinto'.

The screenplay is by the writer Gauz, and the film is produced by Instant2vie Studio. It follows a brilliant young student whose plans are upended by a love affair, and through him the film looks at adolescence, early pregnancy, responsibility, family and education.

The production was shot over 40 days, with period sets rebuilt for the occasion, and runs for 135 minutes. A first teaser was unveiled in Paris over the summer.

The film's Abidjan premiere was scheduled for 15 October at Pathé Abidjan, in the Cap Sud shopping centre, with the director and the novelist announced as guests. Fraternité Matin gives the same date for the film's release in Côte d'Ivoire.

An international premiere follows on Thursday 29 October at 6 pm at Le Grand Rex in Paris, in the presence of the film team.
