The second edition of the Festival mondial de la musique et du tourisme (FMMT) closed in Kinshasa on Saturday 10 October 2026, after three days of concerts. Its theme: "Tourism and music: building bridges between peoples".
The festival is run by the Democratic Republic of Congo's Ministry of Tourism, with the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage and UN Tourism. Alongside the concerts, it offered talks and a cultural village around music, sustainable tourism and the creative industries.
The stages were set up at the Centre culturel et artistique pour les pays d'Afrique centrale (CCAPAC), at the Échangeur de Limete and at the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles. Figures of Congolese rumba took turns on stage, including Sam Mangwana, Werrason, Ferré Gola, Félix Wazekwa and Roga Roga.
The festival also carried an Abidjan accent. Ivorian singer Meiway, master of zoblazo, played the opening night at the CCAPAC. He first performed in what was then Zaire in 1995, and has worked with Koffi Olomidé and Olivier Tshimanga.
Closing the event, Tourism Minister Didier Mazenga described it as "une véritable vitrine stratégique pour la promotion de notre diversité culturelle". The government hopes the festival will help create jobs and opportunities for young people through culture and tourism.
