The Prix ellipse is turning five and is marking the occasion with a group show. From 15 to 31 October 2026, 23 artists from the prize's first five editions are exhibited together at ellipse art projects, 62 rue Charlot, in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris. Entry is free.
Created in 2021, the prize looks each year at the art scene of a different country. Its first five editions focused on Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, Togo, Benin and Ghana. This is the first time laureates and finalists from all five have been brought together in one exhibition.
The show is curated by Sitor Senghor, artistic director of a contemporary African art fair, with the ellipse art projects team. In his words, it was born "d'un constat plutôt que d'un programme": the works were not made to speak to each other, yet they share common lines and unexpected affinities.
Painting, photography, sculpture, installation, textiles and hybrid practices sit side by side. Recurring themes include memory, identity, transmission, social change and our relationship with the living world.
Beyond the prize, the organisation supports young artists through support programmes, exhibitions and networking, to help them circulate, gain visibility and build a professional career.
