Gambian kora player and singer Suntou Susso, born into a griot family, is on tour in the United Kingdom this autumn with his band, The Gambian Superstars. The run began on 10 October in Slough and ends on 7 November at the Fox & Firkin in London.

The concerts are built around his second album, "Jaliya Silokang – The Path of a Griot". The record draws on the West African griot tradition, rooted in Mandinka history, and on the kora, the 22-string harp handed down through generations.

On stage, Susso plays kora, djembe and sings, alongside Ansumana Suso on guitar and balafon, Sheikh Juke on drums and Alasana Faal on bass, with guests at some shows.

The itinerary crosses England and Wales, with stops including the Djanogly Theatre in Nottingham on 21 October, Cobalt Studios in Newcastle on 23 October and the Musicport Festival in Whitby on 24 October.

The band made its London debut earlier in 2026 as part of the Songlines Encounters series at Kings Place.
