The Gambian capital becomes a West African kitchen for a week. The West Africa Food Festival (WAFFest) runs in Banjul from 15 to 21 October 2026, bringing together participants from across the region.
Liberia has confirmed its presence through the Liberia Professional Chefs Association (LIPCA), with support from the Liberia National Tourism Authority. In a statement released on 11 October, Liberia's Ministry of Tourism said its chefs would present traditional dishes and show how culinary arts can support tourism and economic development, under the theme "showcasing Liberia's flavours, people and potential".
Beyond the tastings, the organisers' stated ambition is professional: networking, knowledge exchange and partnerships between chefs, restaurateurs and food businesses. The programme and the full list of participating countries have not yet been published in detail.
WAFFest comes during a busy month for food in West Africa: Côte d'Ivoire holds its national cuisine festival in Kong on 16 and 17 October.
